Aura points
Etymology
A 2024 internet meme, building on the older sense of aura (an intangible personal atmosphere) and on gaming’s points systems. It spread on TikTok and among younger users as a way to score real or hypothetical behavior.
noun · /OR-uh points/
An imaginary score for someone’s coolness or charisma, gained or lost by how they handle a moment.
What it names
It treats social cool as if it were a game stat — a running, fictional tally that rises for a smooth move and craters (“minus a thousand aura”) for an embarrassing one. It gives a playful, quantified language to the otherwise ineffable quality of presence.
Example
He caught the falling glass without looking up — instant aura points.
Related idea
Playful where clout is real: clout is actual social influence and reach, while aura points are a joking, unofficial measure of how cool you seem in the moment.
