Rizz
Etymology
A clipping of charisma, keeping the middle syllable rather than the front. It was popularized around 2021–2022 by the Twitch and YouTube streamer Kai Cenat and his circle, spread on TikTok, and was named Oxford Word of the Year in 2023.
noun · /RIZ/
Skill at charming or flirting with a romantic prospect — charisma applied specifically to attraction.
What it names
A handle for the social talent of drawing someone in through conversation and presence alone, separated out from looks or money. It lets you credit the game rather than the face — "he pulled that off on pure rizz."
Example
He had zero interest until she opened with a terrible pun — somehow that was enough rizz to get a number.
Related idea
Broader than game, which usually implies a practiced routine; rizz can be effortless, and can even be "unspoken."
