Aura farming
Etymology
Built on the 2024 meme sense of aura (an intangible air of cool, scored as “aura points”), extended with “farming” from video games, where players repeat actions to accumulate a resource. To aura farm is to rack up cool on purpose.
noun · /OR-uh FAR-ming/
Deliberately doing cool things to accumulate an air of effortless cool.
What it names
It names the work behind looking unbothered: posing, staying calm under pressure, pulling off something impressive largely for the impression it leaves. The joke is that “effortless” cool is being methodically farmed.
Example
He put on sunglasses to walk out of the burning kitchen — pure aura farming.
Related idea
Where aura points are the score, aura farming is the deliberate effort to run it up — the grind behind the tally.
