Gagged

From drag culture and its ballroom roots, where to be “gagged” is to be left gasping — as if gagging for air — by something spectacular. The usage was carried to a mass audience by drag competition television in the 2010s, and “gag” as a verb (“I’m gagging”) travels with it. It is now used broadly for being floored by anything impressive.

  1. adjective · /GAGD/

Stunned, shocked, or amazed — especially by something fabulous.

It names being so struck that you are momentarily speechless — the good kind of overwhelm. Where plain shock can be neutral or bad, being gagged points at delight and awe: a look, a performance, or a reveal so impressive it leaves you gasping.

When she walked out in that gown, the whole room was gagged.

Overlaps with shook, but gagged skews toward dazzled admiration, while shook can be any kind of rattled.
