Pwn

Widely believed to originate as a typo of “own”: on the QWERTY keyboard the P sits beside the O, so a game designer or player writing “owned” produced “pwned,” and the misspelling spread through competitive gaming in the early 2000s. In security circles it came to mean compromising a system entirely. Its odd spelling and pronunciation are the whole charm — proof the error, not the correction, won.
