Posting through it
Etymology
A folk maxim of mid-2010s internet culture, often rendered as the advice "when in doubt, post through it." It fuses the gerund posting with the "work through it" sense of pushing on despite difficulty; the joke is that posting is the last thing one should do in a crisis.
phrase · /POH-sting throo it/
Continuing to post publicly all the way through a personal crisis instead of logging off.
What it names
It names the modern instinct to metabolize a breakdown, breakup, or scandal in real time on a feed rather than in private — treating the audience as both witness and coping mechanism. It can read as brave honesty or as a slow-motion mistake, sometimes both at once.
Example
Her account got more raw by the hour — she was clearly posting through it.
Related idea
The opposite of a touch grass impulse, which urges someone in distress to close the app and re-enter the physical world.
